OverDrive
OverDrive was one of the first eBook aggregators to enter the Australian market with a product that offered general fiction and non-fiction content. Due to an initial lack of competition OverDrive established itself as the primary eContent supplier to public libraries in NSW. An influx of new eBook aggregators into the NSW marketplace has forced OverDrives to reduce their administration fees to remain competitive.
OverDrive has declined to participate in the NSW.net Consortia Opt-in Scheme.
In January 2014 ReadersFirst published, A Guide to Library E-Book Vendors which is available for free. The guide will be particularly useful to those libraries that do not as yet offer eBooks to their communities and libraries contemplating expanding their existing offerings. eBook vendors are objectively rated in accordance to the key principals advocated by the ReadersFirst coalition.
