3M Cloud Library
3M Cloud Library is a new aggregator platform which is still in beta testing in the US and may arrive in Australia in 2013. 3M complies with the ReadersFirst request for deep integration of aggregator platforms into ILMS (i.e. client is not redirected to a third party platform from the catalogue). To compliment the 3M Cloud Library platform, clients can also puchase dedicated eReaders which can be borrowed and populated with content by the library patron. The company also provides Discovery Terminals which allow readers to find and check out digital content at the library using a touch screen interface.
In January 2014 ReadersFirst published, A Guide to Library E-Book Vendors which is available for free. The guide will be particularly useful to those libraries that do not as yet offer eBooks to their communities and libraries contemplating expanding their existing offerings. eBook vendors are objectively rated in accordance to the key principals advocated by the ReadersFirst coalition.
