NSW.net eLending Kit Pilot Project
The The NSW.net eLending Kit (or “ELK”) is a pilot project designed to increase public library staff knowledge and experience of eLending devices and the eLending environment. The project is scheduled to run for three months March, April and May 2013 and will be evaluated in June 2013.
The participating libraries for the pilot are Lithgow and Mudgee.
The project is supported by the following equipment.
A kit of seven devices:
- Two dedicated eReader devices: the Kobo Touch and the Sony Reader PRS-T2
- Two phones: an Apple iPhone4 and a Samsung Galaxy III
- Two tablets: an Apple iPad3 and a Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1
- One Kindle Fire
Objectives of the pilot:
To provide NSW public library staff with hands-on experience of a variety of eReading devices.
To increase NSW public library staff confidence in using a variety of eReading devices.
Through the use of the eLending Portal to increase NSW public library staff knowledge of the eLending environment.
Through a variety of sources, increase NSW public library staff knowledge of the availability of free ebooks.
Through the use of the State Library EBL service to increase NSW public library staff knowledge of an eBook lending platform.
The pilot will be evaluated with the view to deciding on future eLending initiatives for the 2013-2014 financial year.
