NSW.net User Group

The NSW.net User Group provides a forum for users to exchange information and ideas and also to discuss and flag issues of concern to the NSW.net Team. The most recent meeting of the NSW.net User Group was held at the State Library of NSW on Friday 5 May 2005. Approximately 30 participants attended including metropolitan, country/regional Library and Information Technology representatives.

A number of general topics were discussed including connectivity and price reductions, databases and training, and statistics. Updates on Rural Link and the BHP Billiton Skills.net projects were also presented.

Two excellent case studies were presented:

  1. Lithgow Regional Library on the upgrade of their library network using ADSL and DDS Internet services to provide remote access to their Library Management System by all branch libraries.
  2. Upper Hunter Regional Library on the upgrade of their library network to provide shared access to their Library Management System and the Internet using NSW.net subsidised broadband services.
